Interview: Making Biodecontamination Faster, Safer, and Easier

In this interview, Frances Grinstead shares how CURIS innovations are helping pharmaceutical facility managers and biosafety officers make gaseous biodecontamination of their spaces faster, safer, and easier. Using a 7% hybrid hydrogen peroxide system delivers a mix of micro-aerosols and vapor to a space at precisely calibrated intervals to achieve high-level decontamination. With the recent challenges in staffing, CURIS has created a single piece of equipment to complete multiple tasks in a lab, saving time and money.

ROI of Material Compatibility—Can biodecontamination chemistries impede your production process?

The 2023 Annex 1 revision promotes an increased use of isolators to ensure contamination control within sensitive production environments. Implementing high-concentration, high-consequence chemicals may lead to longer downtimes due to outgassing and an increased potential for corrosion on specific surfaces, including stainless steel. To improve throughput of the final product and decrease costs from equipment downtimes, a low-concentration solution was studied for its ability to improve process performance with significantly less outgassing and corrosion.
